Seeing the unseen

An exploration of sight-loss, story imagination, dreaming and memory…

“I was spellbound”  Stories-by-phone audience

“Knowing he was actually there – actually telling us a story right then – it made all the difference”  Stories-by-phone audience

Through workshops, conversations, performances, experiments, and working with individuals with lived-experience of sight-loss, this project explores the relationship between words, story, memory and the imagination. We want to know how the imagination operates when your ability to see is impaired, is lost, or has simply never existed.  And we aim to build access to our events for audiences with sight-loss, and help our artists become fleet-of-foot, when adapting their work for visually impaired audiences.

The cherry on the cake of this project are our Stories-in-the-Dark shows –  using absolute darkness as a place of parity for all audiences regardless of their state of sight.
