BEOWULF

Jesper la Cour, Troels Kirk Ejsing
14 June 2025, 5PM

Imagine how you would feel if you were the King of Denmark in the 7th century with gold, glory and a big reputation…. but you have to deal with an ugly 500 pound fetid troll, named Grendel, killing your men at random. 1300 years later, storytellers call it the magnificent beginning of a great story.

Channelling epic, farce, nightmare, and comic strip by turn, Danish storytellers, Jesper la Cour and Troels Kirk Ejsing bring us their physical, vital, and downright comedic version of Beowulf back to the Earthouse.  This is a prize performance of an ancient story that’s not to be missed.

There will be two performances at the Earthouse on Saturday 14th June. At 8pm, superb storyteller Kersti Ståbi remixes the primal tale of Tatterhood - the Hairy Girl - with the sheer force of Japanese Taiko drumming. You can buy a joint ticket for both performances.
