EPIC ACCELERATOR WORKSHOP

Ben Haggarty
Weds 30 July, 6pm - Sun 3 August 2025, 5pm

A 4-day intensive residential workshop for experienced performance storytellers who wish to hone their skills in composing and performing EPIC - episodic tales of humans and deities.  Maybe you’ve entered the world of epic, left in confusion, and now wish to find your way back? Maybe you tell Epic but feel that you’re missing something.

This masterclass workshop looks at the world of Epic, focusing on compositional structure, identifying and delivering Rasa, understanding and developing archetypal characters, mantic improvisation, and techniques to enhance physical and vocal largesse.

This is for experienced storytellers working regularly in schools, festivals and on public stages. Participants will be invited to bring segments of known story which they find challenging and will also be given extracts and exercise stories by the tutor. The days will be structured to address aspects of composition, spontaneity and performance.

LOCATION: A secret little studio space in the rural Worcestershire-Herefordshire borders (N.B two cats in residence).

ACCOMMODATION: Individual, basic but cosy glamping and camping accommodation is provided free of charge. Alternatively, you are welcome to seek more luxurious accommodation in local B&Bs and Airbnbs.
